Travel Can Make You Fat!
It all started with this photo. I had to be real and come clean about my weight gain that I’d been trying to hide when filming my travel segments. 35 LBS crept up on me so fast– it seemed like supersonic speed, but actually it has happened gradually over about 10 years but now I wanted it off fast!
So what was I to do? Hold on, be patient– I am going to tell you. As I started to lose the weight, people started asking me how I dropped over 25 pounds in sixty days! I thought it was about time that I put it all down on paper not only for them, but for myself— I do not want to ever forget what got me on the right flightpath.
Well the first thing I did was to get very honest with myself about what I was eating and doing– or not doing– that was leading me to not only put on weight but also to lose energy and just feel old!
Here is what I asked myself:
- How much processed food am I putting into my mouth?
This includes cereal, soda, artificial sweeteners, fast food, glorified fast food (Chili’s etc), deli meat– the list goes on. If it is not in its natural, whole and without preservatives then it is processed.
- How much sugar am I taking in?
- How much am I exercising or simply moving at all?
This is a biggie! At the computer all day. Added a walk in the morning and a run in the afternoon at least 3 times per week. Then it became easier to add some weights in and even more activity.
- How much water am I drinking?
Water is essential to allow the body to not only function, but to retain muscle tone and properly eliminate toxins.

I realized that I needed a “kick-start” and drop some weight. I am one of those people that gets motivated by a quick positive outcome– then I get excited about going full force.
